Personal Story

"I was pretty excited to get into Dartmouth. Ivy day was full of mixed feelings. I applied to all eight and didn't get into: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Penn and Columbia but I got into Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell.

It sucked getting rejected by 5 schools, but it was pretty getting into the others. So overall, it was pretty exciting."

Useful Advice

"Try for schools other than just Harvard.

Harvard is cool and all, but there are a lot of good schools out there. A lot of them. Try your hand at schools other than the big three.

I know people who only try for Harvard, Princeton, and Yale without bothering to look at other schools. The mentality is pretty much Harvard or bust and that makes no sense to me. There are a lot of good schools other than Princeton and Harvard out there. I'd encourage people to apply to them because you have better odds and could get in."
